New Years Resolutions, is this something you do? Resolutions a hot topic with most people this time of year. I looked up the definition of resolution. Here it is – a firm decision to do or not to do something. Hmm, a firm decision to do or not to do something. It really sounds like it is set in stone. A firm decision, it sounds like you are demanding yourself to do this. I would much rather a slight decision to do this, to work towards it. I guess it would no longer be a resolution.

Do you set New Years Resolutions?
So what would it be if it wasn’t a resolution? I looked up the word goal and this is what it said – the object of a person’s ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. I like this a lot better. A persons ambition or effort for the desired result. This sounds more like something I would like to do. The desired result, something you can work towards and maybe change things a little to fit your end result. Yes, I like the word goal a lot better.
I have heard many people say they have made resolutions only to fail within the first week or two. I personally don’t believe in a New Year Resolution. Why set myself up for failure? Only to make me feel like a miserable failure for the rest of the year. I for one would much rather work towards a goal at the pace that feels right.
Do you set goals?
I think it is a good idea to set goals anytime thru the year. Why not start on a new day, not wait for a new year. A goal doesn’t have to be done within a set years time. Some goals may take years to achieve. The main thing is you continue working towards it. If you do get a little sidetracked don’t become discouraged. Just pick up where you left off and continue, you will get there one step at a time.
So as you start the 2017 new year, will you make New Years Resolutions or just set some goals to work towards?
Wishing you a happy and Prosperous 2017
