Elk are Still Here

Moving the hay

The elk are still here.  It has been a long week without a lot of sleep.  There has still been over 300 head of elk moving through our fields, yard, and haystacks.  While I have enjoyed watching them it is time for them to find somewhere else to go for the night.

Coyotes follow the Elk

On New Years Day the elk started moving into our fields just after sunset.  Just before sunrise the elk moved back over the fences, through the neighbor’s fields and back up the mountainside.  They bedded down in the sagebrush and on the mountainside.

Elk

Last night, Tuesday, January 3rd,  we had over 300 elk move in again.  They stayed most of the day.  I have an awesome video to share with you at the bottom of the post.  You wont want to miss it!

Elk Moving In

Lead Cow Elk

The Elk are moving into our fields.  We live on the valley floor and we don’t get a lot of elk normally in our fields except this time of year.  This year we got quite a bit of snow early.  The deeper the snow gets up
