Farming is a gamble anywhere you live. You never know what the weather is going to do. Our altitude where we live is 5600 feet. While a frost in May is not unusual for us we still get our sprinklers going and our pivot turned on to start watering the alfalfa.

We had a good amount of snow this year and a good rain last week, but our ground dries out quickly, so we need to start watering early in the spring.
Last night we had a heavy frost and we were down to around 28 degrees. This is what our sprinklers looked like as I pulled out the driveway to go to work. The sun was just coming up and it was a beautiful morning. I couldn’t help but share. Keep in mind this is May 3rd. It is not unusual for us to freeze even until the middle of June. We have even been known to freeze every month of the year. I am looking forward to the warmer weather and planting my garden.
