Elk vs Coyote who do you think will win? Mother Nature is interesting to watch. Animals have their pecking order and nature seems to take care of itself, if we stand by and let it.
They are still here!
We still have elk in our backyard. The herds have spread out and broke apart into smaller herds. We are left with a little over 100. There are not as many bulls in the herd as there was. Just a couple of small spikes.
Winter is here in full force!
Our snow is getting deeper, and the wind has created more drifts. The last two days the elk have hung around a little closer to our house. Animals are interesting to watch. It was snowing a little in this picture but most of it is a ground blizzard. The elks are a little grumpy with each other. Occasionally they strike with their front legs and fight with each other.
The past few days I have taken a few of these pictures along with another few hundred. I decided to share some of them with you. These are a few of my favorites.
A mothers love
I loved this picture. I thought it was so sweet. A mother elk with her baby. I like the expression on the moms face and also on the babies.
There were 4 coyotes out in the field today. I watched as they pounced on voles and mice. Everyday 2 of these coyotes go across the back of the field I guess towards their home. Today was no exception the coyote was going across the field. I started to video him and I happened to be watching him as he battled with an elk. It seems the elk were laying right on his path and the coyote was trying to figure out how to get around them.
I hope you enjoy the video
Despite the loss of sleep we have had trying to keep them out of the hay and the trees I have loved watching the elk and taking pictures.
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the video. Feel free to share the video with someone who might enjoy it. As usual I love comments!
