When we brought Chef Gino’s Taste Test Challenge home, our three-year-old quickly grabbed it and excitedly showed us the fun pictures she found. She loves to help us in the kitchen and was excited about the new things we would get to try.

Alligator Pear Soup (aka Cold Avocado Soup), homemade pasta, and Zuccadillas (aka zucchini and cheese quesadillas) are some of the fun recipes that grace this colorful cookbook designed for kids.
Besides fun recipes with directions that make it easy for kids to follow, this book also includes fun food facts. Among these are a little history behind sandwiches and a piece about the different colors carrots can be.
Chef Gino includes a section on tools used in the kitchen, another on different leafy greens, and a “pasta sauce matrix.”
Parma, Italy, which Chef Gino declares to be the “food capital of the world,” is Chef Gino’s hometown. Food from the Chef’s native country inspires many of the recipes included in this book. Gino’s teaching background helps him present the recipes in a way that are fun and easy for kids to follow.
Adults can learn plenty from this fun book, too. I was excited to find recipes for pasta and tortillas, both of which I want to learn how to make.
We were getting ready for a pretty long drive, so we decided to try the recipe for “Crazy Crackers,” simple crackers made with pizza dough.
The crackers were simple and fun to make. We added a few of our own seasonings to add a little variety. Chef Gino encourages experimentation with his recipes, giving the basic idea of the food and ideas on how to make them unique.
Our little girl enjoyed helping us make the crackers. She really enjoyed helping us cut them out in fun shapes with cookie cutters. We had pigs, cows, stars, flowers, and other interesting shapes for our crackers.
The crackers tasted good and were a good treat for our long trip.
A Fun Book for Kids and Adults
I have been really impressed with this book. It’s much more than just another cookbook; it is an adventure for the whole family. I’m looking forward to making more fun recipes with my little girl. She’s pretty excited about it too.
