A winter vacation is always nice! When you are battling with a couple of feet of snow and cold, it is always nice to go somewhere warmer, even if it is only for a couple of days. Lucky for me I was able to do just that. So where is a fun place to go?

it was fun to take a vacation to Southern Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. I have family down there so I joined the snowbirds to play for a while.
We took a ride on 4-wheelers and a side-by-side to enjoy the 75-degree weather and enjoy in the sites of the desert.

It is fun to look at rocks, clouds and other things that have shape and character. What does this look like to you?
We stopped along the trail to see some petroglyphs. There were some interesting pictures drawn on there by the Indians.

Petroglyphs on the side of the rocks. It is fun to look at the different pictures.
On the way back from the petroglyphs I saw a lot of little footprints in the sand. I wonder what kind of critter made these. It would be fun to have a camera on the desert at night. I am sure you would see lots of interesting critters running around.

Walking a little farther on the trail I found this lizard sunning himself on a rock. I think he was a little camera shy because he really didn’t want to stick around long. I was really glad he wasn’t a Gila Monster. Another lizard found in the desert (luckily we didn’t find one). They look a little scary!

A lizard running on a rock. I think I interrupted him sunning himself in the warm sunshine.
I climbed back into the side by side with my dad and we went farther into the desert.

Red rocks in the desert. I love all of the holes in the rocks.
We found a great place to stop and eat lunch. The view was awesome!

This was the backdrop of where we ate. Can you find the sun in these rocks? I wonder how it got there and how it was formed. So many mysteries in the desert.

Here is a hidden picture for you. Can you find the sun?
Back on the trail to explore some more awesome sights. I really liked these mountains. There were some really interesting rocks.

Some really interesting rocks. Pretty rugged looking.
We had been watching all day for the Desert Sheep or the Big Horn Sheep. I wanted to find a nice place and walk barefoot in the sand. My mom was in the lead and turned her four-wheeler into a canyon that would be perfect for me to walk barefoot in the sand. Running up the side of the canyon walls we were entertained by these Big Horn Sheep posing for us.

Two bighorn sheep on the side of the rocks. They walked right up like their feet were stuck to the rocks. Beautiful animals.

This one is posing for us.
The fun part comes when we get to see a bonus. A bighorn sheep lamb came bouncing across our trail and up the mountainside. This was an awesome sight to watch.

There is a Big Horn Sheep lamb in this picture. It is bouncing right up the rocks to join its mom.
I had a great trip with lots of warm sunshine. Now it is time to go back to Idaho to the mountains. Although Spring is on the way we still have a bit more snow and cold left. It is fun to visit but it is always good to be home.
I hope you enjoyed my post. Feel free to share it. If you can’t take a vacation to someplace warmer you can always look at this change of scenery. I would love to hear what you think. Leave comments below.
